Ragdolls get their name from they way they go completely limp and relaxed when being held. Ragdolls have other characteristics also that make them stand out from the rest. They are extremely affectionate, gentle and friendly. Ragdoll cats love people; they have dog – like characteristics as well. The Ragdoll will run to the door when you return home a lot like a dog. Ragdolls will be by your side no matter where you are in the home; they love being involved with what ever it is you might be doing.
The Ragdoll cat is an easy going, extremely calm cat. But in saying this they still love to play. They are exceptional pets for children and the elderly. Ragdolls in most cases will get on well with any other pets in the home eg dogs, rabbits etc.
Ragdoll cats should always remain indoors unless monitored or on a leash whilst outdoors. This is due to their trusting nature, if your ragdoll got provoked by another cat or any animal for that matter they may not be able to defend themselves, and could get seriously hurt. Ragdolls don’t require large amounts of space and therefore are great for apartment living.
They are quiet cats. They can become talkative if they are hungry or want your attention. Ragdolls are commonly known as the largest domesticated cat, the male Ragdoll can weight any where up to 20 pounds. They can be clumsy cats and are not very good hunters because of this.
If you are looking for a large, affectionate, loving, fluffy friendly cat then the Ragdoll could be for you.
